366 Photography Challenge – Week Forty - Aberdeen Photographer
As the 366 Photography Challenge continues, each day offers new opportunities to document the world around me, from natural scenes to personal moments. This week, I explore the changing seasons, experiment with self-portraits, and capture moments of everyday life. Photography is not just about clicking a button but also about observing and waiting for the right conditions to create something special.
Day 265: The Path
I have an established route I like to walk. I start with the fields and then continue onto an old path, which is no longer suitable for cars. You can imagine that in the past it was travelled by carriages, but now it lies abandoned. I had tried to photograph this place many times during my daily photography walks, but the light was never quite right. On day 265, the conditions were finally good, and I was able to capture the shot.
Day 266: Self-Portrait
The weather wasn’t great, and I was busy that Tuesday. When the weather is bad, I have to take an indoor image. Lacking options, I opted for a self-portrait. Although it’s not my favourite thing to do, I’ve noticed I’m becoming more comfortable with it. After all, these images can be useful for branding on social media and blogs. If I do it for my clients, why not for my own business?
Day 267: The Berries
As the days grow colder and darker, I’ve been using this to my advantage to emphasise my moody style. As I mentioned in my Facebook post, sometimes I like to capture nature in its grandness, its mighty power over humanity. At other times, I focus on the more intimate side of nature, revealing its beauty and delicacy like a well-kept secret.
Day 268: The Farmer
Another aspect of this 366 Photography Challenge is documenting my environment as the seasons change. On this particular day, I captured a farmer working in the fields. I remember being fascinated by the cylindrical shapes of hay when I first visited the UK.
Day 269: Headshot Photographer
I had been thinking about getting a new headshot after changing my hairstyle. However, this one was a last resort on an extremely busy day, leaving me with little time for anything else. I’ll need to plan a better version. For instance, I prefer darker backgrounds for my portraits, especially when they aren't monochrome. Another item for the to-do list!
Day 270: Autumn Leaves
During my walks, I had been stepping over the first fallen leaves without any thought of photographing them. However, yesterday, the colours and the number of leaves on the ground inspired me to capture the moment. I spent some time selecting and arranging the leaves to create a more appealing composition.
Day 271: Aberdeen City
I went into the city for dinner, and while walking back to the car park, I decided to photograph this structure. I found it very interesting with the lighting. I’m always drawn to the texture of metals in photographs, so it’s not surprising to find it in my collection.
