366 Photography Challenge – Week Thirty-Eight - Aberdeen Photographer
Introduction
This week was a mix of nature, creativity under pressure, and the impact of surroundings on my photography.
Day 251: The Roe Deer
It’s always a delight to come across roe deer during my walks. I’m fortunate to live in such a peaceful area where they can thrive and grow in number. These simple encounters are often underrated, but they bring a spark of joy to the day.
Day 252: Autumn is Coming
During my walk the previous day, I picked up a leaf that caught my eye and brought it home. Little did I know that this simple action would save my photo for today. I had an online course on Day 252, but I hadn’t realised it would run from 6 p.m. until midnight for two consecutive days! During a 15-minute break, I photographed the leaf, making the most of the short window. This is exactly what this challenge is about—sometimes creativity thrives under pressure.
Day 253: Another Perspective of My House Plant
On the second day of the course, I decided to photograph the back of my houseplant’s flowers. While the shot isn’t particularly impressive, I was drawn to the intimacy of the close-up and the way the light fell on the plant. It’s a reminder that even the simplest things can be fascinating when viewed from a different angle.
Day 254: River Dee
After visiting a location for an upcoming photo session, I stopped by the walking path along the River Dee. Not only did I capture a shot for this challenge, but I also recorded a video for my InstaStories. I hadn’t realised this part of the city was so developed—Aberdeen continues to surprise me with its hidden beauty!
Day 255: Windy and Cold Day
Despite feeling worn out after several hectic days, I didn’t want to miss the chance for a walk. The wind was intense, but I still enjoyed the countryside stroll. It seems the rabbits weren’t fans of the weather though, as none were to be seen!
Day 256: London Blog
Today, I finally got around to writing my blog post about my recent trip to London. I had been meaning to do it for a while, but something always got in the way. It’s interesting to reflect on how the atmosphere or events around us can influence our photography. In many ways, photographers are mediators between the inner and outer worlds.
Day 257: Sunday with a Dramatic Blue Sky
I adore dramatic skies, and today was one for the books in Westhill. There were showers all around me, but somehow, I managed to stay dry. It was a perfect end to the week.
This week’s challenge was all about appreciating the little moments and finding creativity in unexpected places. Whether it was a fleeting encounter with wildlife or a rushed photo session during a break, these experiences are what make this journey so rewarding.
