Aberdeen Photographer – 366 Photography Challenge – Week Forty-Four

This week’s journey continues through Spain, visiting charming towns and capturing unique scenes in Saleres, Córdoba, and more, with a focus on light and texture in each shot. From nosy cats and ancient ruins to the striking architecture of Córdoba, each photograph represents the essence of these places.

Day 293: The Nosy Cat

In the area around Saleres, we explored beautiful, quaint towns along scenic trails. On the way back, I spotted this adorable, curious cat who didn’t run away; instead, he observed me intently as I photographed him. I particularly loved how the light highlighted his whiskers, leaving the rest of his face in shadow.

Day 294: The Ruins of Lanjarón Castle

On our way to Capileira, we paused at a viewpoint with this stunning landscape of ancient castle ruins. Capileira itself is a gem settled in the mountains with a abundance of walking paths. I imagine the colours here will be extraordinary later in the autumn. I'll share more photos of Capileira in a future blog.

Day 294.

Day 295: Albuñuelas

A gorgeous day called for a walk around Albuñuelas. Though the path was a bit lengthy, the light was beautiful, and I couldn’t resist capturing plenty of shots. I also gathered some wild rosemary along the way to add to our dinner that evening.

Day 296: Saleres’ Church

As we were packing for the next part of our journey to Córdoba, I discovered a lovely new path near Saleres’ church. The arrangement along this path had such a charming feel. This holiday in Saleres has truly been one of my favourites.

Day 297: Arriving in Córdoba

Reaching Córdoba brought the challenge of driving near the tourist area, where narrow roads filled with people made navigation quite a feat. But Córdoba’s beauty impressed me from the start. I managed to capture a quick photo from our apartment balcony, ready to explore more in the coming days.

Day 297.

Day 298: Puente Romano

With rain forecast for the afternoon, we spent the morning exploring. Although I had hoped to visit the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos and its gardens, we postponed until later. Fortunately, I had taken this shot of the Puente Romano earlier that captures the bridge’s historic charm.

Day 298.

Day 299: Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba

For our last day in the gorgeous city of Córdoba, we visited the Mosque-Cathedral. I’ll be sharing a blog post with more photos of this beautiful place. Our holiday ends tomorrow as we travel back to the UK. We’re going to miss Spain, as always!

From playful cats to ancient ruins, this week in Spain has offered plenty of scenes worth capturing. Each day’s photograph reflects the unique essence of the places we visited.
