Drum Castle, Garden & Estate - Photo Session
Before the session
After examining the weather forecast for days, we decided to do the photo session at the end of April. The decision was wise, and we were rewarded with a beautiful sunny day.
I scouted the place days before, therefore I knew where I would like to shoot and Janice, from @scottishlookbook Instagram account, had the clothes and jewellery chosen and collected. The session was smooth and with a positive energy.
When you work with the right people not only you end with a good product, also you feel energised at the end of the day.
The Location
I visited Drum Castle Garden & Estate long time ago during wintertime, therefore I could not appreciate the beauty of this place, especially its historic garden which has some cultivated roses from the 17th century.
The tower of the castle, from the 13th century, it is one of the oldest in Scotland. Robert the Bruce gave the tower of Drum with its ancient forest to his loyal armour bearer and secretary, William de Irwyn. Nowadays, it belongs to the Natural Trust for Scotland.
In Victorian times, the back of the castle was extended with a Jacobean mansion. Although, the tower was unadulterated.
I am looking for to return during summertime to see in full the splendour that immaculate rose garden.
