Photos of Aberdeen City, Creative Selfies and Nature
Compromises with clients and other life activities led me to the path of bringing my camera with me on ordinary days. I usually only take my camera if I have a photo session, but (maybe) this challenge brought me to a new habit of taking my equipment everywhere. I already knew that this should be the norm, especially if you do street photography, but I didn’t adopt it as I am obsessed with looking after my camera and I am a portrait photographer.
The week was a mix of sunny and rainy days. Although we have beautiful sunsets, I tried to photograph different scenarios to avoid being repetitive and to force myself to see in new ways. After all, this challenge is about exercising my creativity.
On day 23, I was running out of time for my photo challenge, and I decided to use a red gel on my speed light (flash) and take a selfie with black items to produce a catchy contrast. Yes, that image was captured in camera, and I realised that I must make this clarification as a client was thinking that it was made in post-production.
On Saturday (day 27), I went to the cinema to watch Poor Things. I am not a novice regarding the work of Yorgos Lanthimos, but it looked like some people were there without knowing his previous works and they were shocked. One even left the cinema, which I found funny. I took the opportunity that I was in Aberdeen to capture one of the structures that I love in this city and that is clearly underrated, in my opinion.
On day 28, I had an unexpected photo session. I only work on Sundays under exceptional circumstances, and I had no time for the post of today. Therefore, I did a self-portrait to complete the challenge.
