Welcome to the twenty-fourth week of my 366-day photography challenge! his week has been a rollercoaster with the weather, providing both challenges and opportunities for creativity. From capturing ethereal flowers at home to braving the elements for a glimpse of a rainbow, each day brought a unique experience. Let's dive into the details of this week's photographic journey!
Day 154: Soft Aethereal Flower Portrait
Today was a bit unusual. My daughter came home from school feeling unwell, which meant I couldn't go out for my usual photo expedition. Instead, I took the opportunity to get creative at home. The oxalis plant, which I’ve photographed before, is now in bloom. I adore these delicate flowers and decided to focus on them, deliberately avoiding the foliage. I edited the image with a dreamy, soft look to match the flowers' ethereal delicacy.
Day 155: Peaceful Walk
One of the benefits of taking a walk late in the evening, especially in poor weather, is the solitude. It’s rare to encounter anyone at that hour, except perhaps an occasional dog walker. I cherish these walks, enjoying the birdsong and the rustling leaves, enjoying the time alone with my thoughts.
Day 156: The Rainbow in the Hills
The weather has been unpredictable, alternating between sun and rain. I’ve managed to stay dry most days, but today was different. The wind had been persistent, so I wore a rain jacket with a hood, a necessity to prevent earache. When the rain started, I was ready and took shelter under a large tree. The reward for my patience was a stunning rainbow at the top of the hill. My hands were freezing, a reminder that gloves are essential even during a “Scottish summer”.
Day 157: My Garden
With a busy schedule and uncooperative weather, I stayed close to home and took a vignette of my garden. I love trees that add visual interest through their shapes or colours, and my garden has some of those delightful features.
Day 158: Gorgeous Sunlight
I’ve had my eye on some flowers spotted during my walks for a while but had prioritised other compositions. Today, the sunlight illuminated them perfectly, making them perfect for a photo. This picture is a reminder that the images in my mind often take time to materialise.
Day 159: Night Walk
One of the perks of summertime in Scotland is the extended daylight. Last night, despite the cold and slight wind, I took my usual route home. I’ve been observing the buttercup flowers for weeks, waiting for the perfect moment. Finally, the composition came together beautifully.
Day 160: The Track
The last photo features a track in the field with a very dramatic black-and-white edit, as it is my preference.
This week has reminded me of the beauty in both the ordinary and the unexpected. From the comfort of my garden to the unpredictable hills, each day offered a unique perspective. I hope you enjoyed this week’s journey and that it inspires you to find beauty in your everyday surroundings. Join me next week as I continue my 366-day photography challenge!
