Beyond being a photographer, I am also a mum. I know how challenging this time of self-isolation can be for entertaining our kids. Therefore, I would like to give you a hand to have an enjoyable and educative option for your children when they grab a devise, so you don’t feel guilty when that happen.
As many aspects in life, it is a matter of choices what it makes something bad or good for you. Even essential things like food can be dreadful if you choose the unhealthy way of life. There is nothing new on this, however sometimes we forget our responsibilities regarding our poor choices. The same happen with internet and social media content.
Personally, I love YouTube Channels. No, it is not only a place with pets doing funny things. It is a place full of learning possibilities! Here you can find a list of channels that even you are going to love to watch.
1) Kurzgesagt
This is my top favourite. The content is broad, from philosophical questions to scientific topics. The design of the videos is attractive, it has the power to entertain everyone and the narrator is pleasant to listen to. It is one of the most polished channels I have seen in YouTube.
2) TED ED
This is the well-known TED but for kids and with educational orientation. Among the many scholastic teaching there are also videos presenting problems where kids need to find a solution in a very fun way. You can find them under the category “Can you solve this riddle?
Furthermore, there is another category about “Myth from around the World”. I found that very refreshing as it is not very common.
All of these and more with animated cartoons.
3) Crash Course
Fascinating variety of educational videos and useful information for life. Another top channel that you are going to love.
4) Seeker
This channel is all about science in a “FUNtastic” way. Believe me, even you are going to stop your activities to watch these videos.
5) Cartooning Club How to Draw
Your kids are going to enjoy learning how to draw as a pro cartoonist. I do a side by side drawing with my daughter, it is fun.
6) London City Girl
It has videos that are not only for girls. There are categories such as Popular Science, Physics, Film Analysis and History.
Finally, WWI it is more understandable…even though it doesn’t make sense. Don’t miss this video.
7) CGP Grey
Beyond some educational videos this channel has some creative topics such as How Machines Learn or 7 Ways to Maximize Misery. It makes questions about life and there are some explanations about news related with politics too. However, it is more USA and UK related, it is very entertaining.
My all-time favourite video is Rules for Rulers.
Bonus
8) The School of Life
In order to help people to understand themselves and improve their lives, this organisation based in UK uploads very helpful videos for all ages. However, if you have a very young kids you might want to guide them and choose what to watch.
I hope you find this post helpful and inspiring. Do you have any other recommendations to help parents with kids at home?
A lot of elbows from your photographer friend.
