The final week of my 366 Photography Challenge is here, from festive traditions to breath-taking landscapes and personal milestones, this week encapsulated the essence of storytelling through photography. Here's a glimpse into the final stretch of this creative venture.
Day 356: My Favourite Clutch
With Christmas just around the corner, I was busy organising the last details for the celebrations. For this day’s photo, I decided to use my favourite clutch as the subject. I placed a large mirror horizontally, positioned the clutch on top, and illuminated it with a wand light. Later, I removed the mirror’s wooden frame in Photoshop to complete the image.
Day 357: Bennachie and the Blue Clouds
For Latinos, we start Christmas celebrations on 24th December. We’re nocturnal creatures, probably because Christmas falls in summertime for us, so we have dinner while waiting for midnight. Here in Britain, I keep both traditions alive by making a proper Christmas dinner for both days. Luckily, the weather was lovely, and the Bennachie landscape was stunning, which made the task of capturing today’s photo a bit easier.
Day 358: Christmas Day
I was woken up by my daughter, excited to open Christmas presents. After our coffees (and tea for my teen), we began unwrapping gifts. Later, we went for a late morning walk, and that’s where I captured this image for the challenge.
Day 359: Corgarff Castle
Whenever we travel towards the North Sea, I often stop to capture an image of Corgarff Castle (a name I know thanks to my friend Sam). Boxing Day was no exception. The light that day was gorgeous, highlighting the different colours and textures in nature beautifully.
Day 360: Thurso Beach
After finishing work on the final two images from a collection for a client, I took a walk to clear my mind. At Thurso Beach, we saw surfers braving the freezing water, which was quite a sight. I loved the soft shades of blue and the contrast with the lights from the buildings, so I decided to capture this scene for today’s challenge..
Day 361: Wind Turbine in Monochrome
We went for a walk in the hills of Caithness, but it was hard not to notice how the Highlands are changing with the installation of inland wind turbines. These structures not only affect the views but also bring noise that disturbs many locals. Even worse, a private wind turbine company has blocked the usual path for this walk, discouraging residents from enjoying the area. We walked through anyway, and I took this monochrome photo to reflect on these changes.
Day 362: Scrabster
After celebrating my father-in-law’s 90th birthday, it was quite late to capture a photo, and the rain wasn’t helping. I headed to the harbour, hoping to find something interesting. The reflections of the lights on the water added an extra element to the scene, making it perfect for today’s image.
