Welcome back to the 365 Days Photography Challenge! This week, we delve into the beauty of the Scottish Highlands, capture stunning wildlife, and revel in the charm of Scotland’s natural wonders. Each day brings a new subject, from misty landscapes to enchanting sunsets and even the elusive aurora borealis. Join me on this photographic journey and discover the magic of Aberdeen and its surroundings.
Day 133: Misty Day in the Scottish Highlands
Every spring, we enjoy the Scotch broom in bloom, creating a captivating scene in the hills. I decided to capture this image on a foggy day to add more interest and emotion to the picture.
Day 134: Adult Owl – Scottish Wildlife
I was searching for the owl I had previously photographed. The day I captured an image of her baby, I also took a distant shot of the adult. After a couple of days of searching, I guessed she was on a nearby path. I was right, and fortunately, she didn't fly away immediately. Instead, she seemed curious about me. After a few photos, she flew away.
Day 135: Dandelion
Although I don’t have a macro lens, I don’t miss the opportunity to take the shots I want in the best possible way, despite my limitations.
Day 136: Scotland and its Beautiful Sunsets
Every summer, weather permitting, we can enjoy breathtaking sunsets. The long daylight hours allow for late evening walks. Scotland is a dream place when the weather is kind.
Day 137: House Plant
I was thinking about what to write for my monthly blog. I always like to bring up topics of interest, often unrelated to portraits, as I imagine (perhaps wrongly) that you might find that theme less interesting. So, I decided to write about International Museum Day, featuring pictures from some museums I visited. With little time left, I took a picture of one of my house plants to meet the challenge for the day.
Day 138: Westhill – Aurora Borealis
While writing my blog for this month, I was waiting to see if there were any signs of the aurora borealis. I downloaded an app to track the intensity. Having missed it many times, I was frustrated that I hadn't captured it yet. Determined to succeed this time, I waited. Fortunately, the alert went from amber to red—not as intense as other days, but good enough to capture something. Despite being very tired, I went out and took the shot. I was so happy to have done that! One less thing on my list.
Day 139: The Owl
I went for a walk today, and since then, I know that we have an owl around. I searched for it, and now I’m very good at spotting it. She didn’t fly away during my presence. In a silly way, I convinced myself that she was getting used to my presence.
This week has been a delightful mix of challenges and triumphs, from capturing elusive wildlife to finally photographing the aurora borealis. Each day has brought a unique subject, adding to the rich tapestry of this 365 Days Photography Challenge. I hope these images inspire you to find beauty in your everyday surroundings and to embrace the magic of nature, wherever you are.
