366 Photography Challenge: Week Twenty-Eight-Aberdeen-Photographer / by Leticia Gaidon Bradford

This week has been a fascinating blend of unpredictable weather and creative inspiration, characteristic of a Scottish summer. From the warm rains to the resilient flowers in my garden, each day brought its own unique opportunity to capture something special. Join me as I walk you through the highlights of this week’s photographic journey.

Day 182: Gorgeous Evening

When I took this photo, I couldn’t have imagined how dreadful the weather would turn in the following days. Luckily, I made sure to fully enjoy my walk. What I love about the Scottish summer is that the rain gets warmer.

Day 183: Raindrops

As the rain began and made walking difficult due to the complementary wind, I had to find alternative ways to keep up with this photography challenge. I resorted to the somewhat unoriginal idea of photographing raindrops on my window. I always tend to shoot in black and white to add a bit of moodiness to my images.

Day 184: Flowers in My Garden 1

Although it was a bit windy, I dashed out during a break in the showers to take this photo. Interestingly enough, the rabbits in my garden don’t seem to like this particular plant.

Day 185: Election Day

Thankfully, we had some brief intervals of rain. I took a walk to vote for the candidates I detest the least, hoping their poor decisions would affect me the least. On my way back home, I was struck by the beautiful light and decided to capture this photo to round off the day.

Day 186: Japanese Inspirations

It was a relentlessly windy and rainy day, and I grew weary of photographing plants without any real creative flair. The inspiration for this image came from memories of Japanese ink painting, or sumi-e, which I encountered in my younger days. I love the works in ink, and you can see how this has influenced my photography.

Day 187: Flowers from My Garden 2

The weather remained miserable, so I opted for a colourful yet moody look for today’s image. This style is very much a reflection of my overall photographic approach.

Day 188: Rain Over the Hills

Thankfully, the wind stopped, leaving just intermittent rain. I decided to take the opportunity for a walk, even though I risked getting caught in the rain—and I did! Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the stroll, and I even did a workout afterwards... because I am a bit crazy.
